NorCal HS League Seeking Coaches

Ride Leaders The NorCal High School Mountain Bike Racing League is seeking coaches for its ever expanding programs in the Bay Area. The NorCal League has its greatest concentration of teams in Marin County, with nearly every high school  - public and private - fielding a team. Each team relies on volunteer coaches and ride leaders to help teach important skills and techniques to riders. In addition to bike skills, riders also learn about trail maintenance and stewardship that ensures that future generations will be enjoying the same trails. If you would like to volunteer with a local team as a ride leader or coach, or even just come out to the races to help out, please contact Tyler at tyler@norcalmtb.org. You can find more information about the NorCal League at www.norcalmtb.org

Marin Bike Patrol hits the trails in Marin!
BTC Marin and A4B sponsor bike patrol at China Camp and Mt. Tam State Parks
Marin Bike PatrolThe Marin Bike Patrol is a volunteer organization dedicated to keeping Marin fire roads and trails safe and accessible. The Marin Bike Patrol partners with local land managers to assist trail users and promote responsible mountain biking. Patrolling in pairs and equipped with radios, Marin Bike Patrol members provide a vital link between recreational trail users and park staff.
The Marin Bike Patrol started patrolling at China Camp State Park in July and is in discussions with land managers about expanding the service to other parks in Marin. Patrollers are receiving training from the Volunteer In Parks Program and from the International Mountain Bicycling Association’s (IMBA) National Mountain Bike Patrol, which is modeled after the successful National Ski Patrol.
Bike patroller responsibilities include:

  • Reporting and responding to injuries and accidents
  • Troubleshooting trail hazards, obstacles and dangers
  • Assisting riders with faulty equipment
  • Educating trail users about safe and low-impact trail-usage
  • Building relationships among the various trail users
